How is it?

How is it that I can be up all night long with contractions 5 minutes a part or so...fall, asleep for 2 1/2 hours and now nothing? What was the point? Ahhhh!!!!!! I know the end is near and that gives me hope, but truly...all night? Was that truly necessary? Brett is hoping for *the* phone call today at work, and I'm hoping for a nap...lol!

I often visit my own blog just so I can see the number of days before this baby is due to arrive decreasing. It seems to have slowed down...

Timing

Never before has my mother come to help me after I've had a baby. We've been in Texas and it just hasn't worked out. We've gotten by with friends and just dealing in the past. For Gianna a cousin came to help and that was awesome. This time my mom is coming for almost a week and so is my grandma...score! The only problem. Given my history of delivering early I told my mom to go ahead and book her flight for Gianna's birthday which happens to be three days before my due date. At the time I was extremely confident that it would be fine. Now, I'm getting a little nervous. I know we still have time and that chances are fairly good that this baby will get here on time, but if you have a spare moment can you please pray that she arrives before my mom does...and before her baptism (Feb.22nd) would be good too...lol!

Movie-watching

Last night the kids had a slumber party in the living room. The cashed in their chore dollars for the party and had a blast planning what they were going to do.
It was decided that they wanted to watch Star Wars: The Phantom Menace...unanimously. I did dishes, made popcorn, did some work on the computer, and then ran out of "other" things I could do. I finally gave in and sat down and watched the movie with the kids. Star Wars is fine. Nothing against it, it's just not my thing. The kids love it, daddy loves it (which is why the kids love it so much), and I tolerate it.

Aidan has picked out the theme song on the piano and my "favorite" moment throughout the day is when Aidan is pounding away the theme song while Emma is "accompanying" him on the kazoo.

So back to the movie. I sat down to watch and was asking a lot of questions. Partly because I was interested, and partly because I wanted to show the kids that I was actually watching. After about the third or fourth question, an almost-three-year old in purple pajamas and in a pink camo sleeping bag looked up at me from her spot on the floor and said, "Mommy, just watch the movie!".

Accomplishment!

It has officially been 55 days since we've eaten out. That includes going out or picking up to eat in. We've exchanged no currency with any sort of restaurant establishment for 55 days (not even for a $5 hot 'n ready pizza!). Since we've been keeping track neither one of us wants to watch that number go back down to zero so we'll see how long we can keep this up. We've both had weak moments where we try to convince the other one that we should just "pick something up", but luckily at least one of us has held strong.

My project

I'm trying to become more familiar with my sewing machine and my inner crafty person (I know you're in there somewhere). I just finished a blanket for this baby. It's made of fleece and flannel and I cannot wait to snuggle her up in it. Delicious!

The dark purple is the back. The squares don't line up perfectly, but I'm pretty proud of my first attempt. I haven't decided if I'm going to tie it or not. I tried sewing some seams (?) in it, but the fabric kept catching.

Chilled!

We currently have a windchill of -45 degrees today with a regular temp of -22 degrees. Schools are canceled (except for Universities-go figure) and the general consensus is that you have to be a little bit crazy to even consider going anywhere today. We're not canceling school today since I have a feeling we will be on "school-light" mode here in a few weeks, but I did declare today a pajama day! We are all in fleece pjs and I can not imagine getting out of them. Just one more reason I love homeschooling! :-)

An another note:
I had a doctor's appointment yesterday. I was a little anxious to go due to some issue surrounding glucose, etc..., but that part turned out alright. This little girl, however, gave us a little start when her heartbeat was extremely accelerated. She finally calmed down by the end of the appointment and my doctor was happy to send me on my way, but there was a little bit of a concern there for awhile. Kids these day! Geesh!

Because of the accelerated heartbeat my doctor did want to go ahead and check me to make sure I wasn't dilating too much. I am currently 1 cm and 20% effaced...so...really, nothing to report there which is fine since this little gal is not done growing just yet.
